More and more exciting developments are coming to Starknet soonā¢ļø
Keep your Starknet wallets updated
š Protostarās Support for Cairo 1.0 is here!
Protostar, a toolchain for developing and testing smart contracts on Starknet, recently announced initial support for Cairo 1.0.
The current version supports only pure Cairo contracts, but we should see full support for Starknet contracts in the coming weeks!
š Starknet v0.11 is coming soonā¢ļø
Starkware announced an exciting network upgrade, which is highly anticipated by everyone: Starknet v0.11 will be hitting mainnet in a few weeks!
āļøMake sure your Starknet wallets are updated
A small note from us before we continue with Last week in Starknet: Ensure that your Starknet wallets are updated.
You should see a small banner in your Argent X wallet which will inform you that you need to update your wallet. This requires a small L2 transaction. If you donāt see this message in your accounts, your wallet is up-to-date, and you donāt need to do anything.
Now, letās get back to the newsletter!
šĀ New update for Argent X
We announced a new update for Argent X that gives you more clarity when signing transactions. This gives you more peace of mind and is just one of many ways that Argent X is the most secure wallet on Starknet.
Let us know what you think!
š¤Æ100 million NFTs have been minted with StarkEx
Woah. What an achievement for StarkEx. Though this isnāt specifically Starknet, StarkEx uses STARKs, like Starknet, which powers the scaling behind both networks. StarkEx is app-specific, whereas Starknet is general-purpose.
This is a massive win for the Starkware team, as it truly shows how much potential lies in using STARKs to scale Ethereum!
š Starknet Nairobi Bootcamp #2
The great Starknet community, Starknet Africa, has been holding a series of amazing sessions on Cairo and Starknet at the Starknet Nairobi Bootcamp, targeted at developers in Nairobi, Kenya.
In this second episode, we have Godspower Eze taking students on a journey to understanding Zero Knowledge Proofs and the Account abstraction concept.
š Things we found Interesting
FreshPizza demonstrates how you can create alternative interfaces for existing protocols by using an Age of Empires interface for DeFi interactions, like trading tokens.
Garaga enables efficient pairing operations on Starknet, by using polynomial representations of field elements. Currently working on enabling the verification of Snarks in Starks, youād definitely not want to miss out on this one!
Awesome Developerās Resources
DrSpacemnn, Developer Advocate at Starkware, gave a keynote covering unlocking on-chain possibilities with Starknet.
An article by Sphinx, on how Starknet differs from other L2s.
A continuation of the series of articles by Ilia Volokh on Starknetās decentralized protocol plans.
A deep dive into Cairo 1.0 by solving some Starkling challenges by Starknet Africa.
š What to look out for!
In collaboration with Argent and Starkware, Nethermind will be holding a second Starknet London meetup, with a dedicated Cairo 1.0 workshop by gigabrain @eniwhere_.
If youāre anywhere near London on March 27, 2023, book a spot now. You wonāt regret it!
