TLDR:
developerreports.com shows massive growth in the number of active StarkNet developers
StarkWare announces official sponsors for StarkWare Sessions 2023
StarkNet Paris meetup crosses 100 attendees!
📈 StarkNet is growing fast!!
DeveloperReport measures developer activity across all the significant blockchains and Layer 2s. Despite entering the so-called “bear market”, developer activity is continuing to rise, which makes us very excited about the industry's future.
But what caught our attention is the 214% increase in StarkNet developers since last year. This makes StarkNet one of the fastest-growing blockchains in the entire ecosystem!
Ranking 13th overall, there’s lots of room for growth. We’re still early. And that’s incredibly exciting.

📣 StarkWare Sessions sponsors revealed!
With the heavily anticipated StarkWare Sessions coming up by 5-6th February, StarkWare officially announced the event sponsors.
All the leading teams in the ecosystem will be attending and sponsoring, including StarkScan, Argent, Nostra, and many more!
⛷️ StarkNet Chalet Recap
For anyone unable to attend the StarkNet Chalet (us included), you may have been feeling some serious FOMO.
Luckily, OnlyDust wrote an amazing recap of the event and everything that happened. With over 70 Pull requests merged on 5 open source projects ranging from Garaga to Cairo-Foundary, Kakarot, and many more, it was definitely a huge success!
🤔 Are we on the verge of the first L3 zkEVM?
Following the previous Kakarot community call, the team debated on some crucial infrastructure choices for their zkEVM project, mostly revolving around if Kakarot should remain as a smart contract on top of StarkNet or if it should have its own chain.
Currently, Kakarot exists as an EVM execution layer over StarkNet and, as such, can’t handle its own gas and block logic. With the new proposal, Kakarot might exist as a Substrate L2 that packs Cairo execution engine.
Ethereum’s first L3 ZkEVM? Too early to say.
🚨 PSA: Keep your StarkNet wallets upgraded!
Regenesis is around the corner. It’s going to be huge for the ecosystem.
To ensure that you’re prepared for this network upgrade, regularly open your StarkNet wallet and keep it updated to avoid any issues resulting from breaking changes.
📊 New transaction feature on Voyager
Voyager has introduced a new feature to the transaction page called the Operations column. This new column lets you see specific information about every transaction on StarkNet.

🇫🇷 Future of France
Paris is being transformed into one of the largest hubs for the StarkNet community, with them having just passed the incredible milestone of over 100 participants. That’s an incredible achievement and highlights how the ecosystem is growing.
If you’re based in France/ Paris and want to get involved, reach out. The more people, the better it is!
🚀 One small step for Influence, one giant leap for on-chain gaming
Starting this week, anyone can explore what the Influence team has been building. If you’re unfamiliar with what the team is doing, they’re building an expansive space MMORPG that’s fully on-chain and pushes the boundaries of what’s possible on StarkNet. To say it’s cool is an understatement.
But that’s not all. By testing out what Influence is building and providing feedback, you’ll be able to earn rewards for your efforts.
🧱 Awesome developer resources
SpaceShard updated their tutorial on getting started with Cairo development using the StarkNet hardhat plugin.
StarkWare’s lead developer Advocate, Henri Lieutad, hosted a Cairo masterclass at the Belgium community in collaboration with CryptoSquare.
Starklings, an interactive tutorial for learning Cairo, just got more robust as Triality added 5 new modules and introduced Protostar for a smooth user experience.

💭 Things we found Interesting
Garaga enables efficient pairing operations in StarkNet, by using polynomial representation of field elements.
StarkNet DEXs passed $1 million total value locked!
👀 What to look out for!
More and more teams are building on StarkNet. Rango is one of them. They’re the first multichain DEX/bridge aggregator and are currently building a bridge between Ethereum and StarkNet!
